Medina M. Mohammed Ibrahim
Guided by the "For Us By Us" ethos, Medina seeks to connect communities of the African diaspora, both online and in person, through her work in producing and activating temporary spaces.
As co-founder of the open mic project, Deep Underground (2015-2019), she honed her ability to design environments rooted in equity and authentic expression.
At the core of Medina’s interdisciplinary artistic practice is a love for storytelling via analog mediums. Pairing that with intentional curation, she transforms everyday moments into spaces of care, and shared reflection.
In 2019, she lent her curatorial skills to the Portland Art Museum, to present Monuments: The Earth Expedition of Sun Ra, highlighting her ability to merge art, culture, and community engagement.
Now dividing her time between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Portland, Oregon, Medina continues to bridge cultures and cultivate spaces where individuals can come together to have unique experiences.
